Ohio Healthy Programs Delivers Nutrition Education for Family Child Care Providers

Children’s Hunger Alliance recently hosted a series of educational events for in-home daycare providers across Ohio and the children in their care. The family engagement celebrations in Columbus, Zanesville, Cleveland, Warren and Cincinnati offered providers a chance to be recognized for completing the Ohio Healthy Programs for the Family Child Care Provider online training series. It also provided a fun environment for kids to learn about the benefits of healthy eating and physical activity.

Children in attendance were treated to exciting activities like veggie toss: children guessed how many servings of fruit and vegetables they are supposed to eat per day and tossed a bean bag into the bin with the correct number. They learned how eating healthy helps their bodies to fight off germs, completed challenging obstacle courses and decorated their very own water bottles! After working up an appetite, kids were encouraged to scoop their own trail mix and enjoyed a healthy lunch provided by Molina Healthcare.

Thank you to the Ohio Department of Health for their continued support of our mission and to our staff, volunteers and partner daycare providers who go above and beyond to create a healthier future for the children of Ohio.
