CHILDREN’S HUNGER ALLIANCE INVITES SUPPORTERS TO TAKE THE LUNCH MONEY CHALLENGE ON MAY 31
Participants will pack their lunch and donate their lunch money to help provide meals for Ohio’s hungry children
COLUMBUS, OH – May 30, 2018 – Across Ohio, businesses and individuals will take the Lunch Money Challenge on May 31 to help provide healthy meals to Ohio’s at-risk children. The Lunch Money Challenge is an invitation from Children’s Hunger Alliance to pack your lunch, skip going out and donate your lunch money instead. On average, Americans spend $11.40 when they eat out for lunch. By making a donation of that amount, Children’s Hunger Alliance can provide more than 30 healthy meals to feed at-risk children.
More than 1 in 5 Ohio children live in food-insecure households, and they urgently need the community to help ensure their most basic needs are met. As schools close for summer break, many children are uncertain of whether they will have enough food to eat at home. Only 10% of children who receive free lunch during the school year will access free meals this summer. That’s why Children’s Hunger Alliance is working to increase access to healthy meals for more children this summer – and asking the public to help.
