A message from our CEO: ‘Despite the state budget cut, we do NOT plan to cut any children from our programs’

MOH 24-110

Dear CHA Supporters,

Thank you for your advocacy during the budget process. Ultimately, CHA’s funding was cut by $2 million in the biennial Ohio budget, which will result in 1.2 million fewer meals for children when they return to school in August.

Despite the state budget cut, we do NOT plan to cut any children from our programs. To make the numbers work, we will have to provide less food over fewer weeks during the year. It is a terrible feeling to sit around a table and try to figure out the least painful ways to take away critical support.

We can do better, and we know you care about this issue.

Your support matters. It only takes $10 to provide weekend meals for one child. Did you know a mere $300 supports a student through the entire school year?

With your financial support, CHA has the infrastructure and public goodwill to provide meals efficiently in communities throughout the state. If we increase our services by 5 percent per year over the next 10 to 15 years, we could see an Ohio where every child has a nutritious meal every day. This gives me hope that we can achieve and sustain our goal.

It’s been said that the only recognizable feature of hope is action, and CHA is here to serve! Donate today to help Ohio’s children thrive: https://bit.ly/GiveCHA
